I am a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. I served on the 210' Cutter Valiant (WMEC621) and the 82' Patrol Boat Point Swift. I logged over 300 days at sea in my first year on the Cutter Valiant heavily involved in drug seizuers between Cuba and Mexico. During my time on the Point Swift I was involved in the Cuban Boat Lift. It was the beginnings of becoming a man and understanding the meaning of responsibility, integrity and honor. The captain of the ship Commander James Loy was a great mentor to me and little did I know at the time he would become the Commandant of the Coast Guard. The military was a great experience for me and I value the memories and the great people I worked with. Would do it again without hesitation.
